What is a Geo QR Code?
A geo QR code encodes geo:31.2304,121.4737. Scanning opens the default maps app pinned to that coordinate. “We are here” cards in malls, parking-lot guides and hiking meetup points all run on this.
Encoding structure
- Format:
geo:lat,lng[,alt]; - Coordinates are WGS-84 (GPS coordinates, not raw GCJ-02);
- More decimals = more precision: 4 places ≈ 11 m, 6 places ≈ 0.1 m;
- In mainland China, double-check the drop point on a real phone (map offset between providers).
How to generate a geo QR code
- Type the coordinates (e.g.
31.2304,121.4737); - Confirm latitude comes first in the preview;
- Test-scan to verify the map pin lands correctly;
- Download PNG/SVG.
Typical uses
- Mall/office “service desk on this floor” guides;
- Parking lots and charging stations;
- Outdoor and self-drive meetup points.
