Online EAN-8 Generator
13 one- / two-dimensional barcode formats, check digits computed automatically.
What is EAN-8?
EAN-8 is the compact sibling of EAN-13: 4-digit country prefix + 3-digit product code + 1 check digit. Retailers use it when a 13-digit code physically cannot fit on the item (lipstick, matchbox, single-serve packs) while staying POS-readable.
Encoding rules
- Enter 7 digits; the check digit is computed automatically;
- Prefix 690 identifies mainland China;
- Because it prints small, keep height ≥ 20 mm for reliable scanning.
How to generate an EAN-8 barcode
- Type 7 digits (e.g.
6901234); - Confirm the check digit in the preview;
- Adjust height and margins to the real package space;
- Download PNG/SVG.
Typical uses
- Cosmetics, tobacco, gum and other small packs;
- Convenience-store singles;
- Temporary codes for samples and trials.
